Granny’s Great Gathering!

The Suttons Aunt D’s Family

We spent last weekend in Dover, Tennessee where ‘Granny’s Gathering’ was held on Saturday. Shani and her family was kind enough to put our family and Grammy and Poppy up at her house where we held the gathering. I love their place as it is one of the few places I have ever been where the sunrise is as spectacular and serene as the sunset. It reminds me of some of the better days of sunrises/sunsets that I have had hiking. One day, there will be vast amounts of unbothered land surrounding me. Ok, back to the gathering. Earlier this year Granny mentioned a few times in the same weekend how she would like her kids and their kids and even their kids to get together at the same time in the same place. Aunt D, Mom and Shani picked up on this idea and ran with it (with lots and lots of help from the greater family). The result: 50+ people spent the day at Shani’s eating, drinking, climbing and sliding on an inflatable bouncy –> , watching football, judging pies and finishing with a fireworks display fit for the 4th. The day was a HUGE success and left me wanting to get back to Paris/Dover more often to visit the great family I am lucky enough to have. All good.

Will’s 1st Soccer Game

Here are a few pictures from Will’s 1st soccer game. It was a heated match ending in a 2-2 draw. Although the parents were shouting “shoot-out!” repeatedly from the sidelines the coaches of the 5-6 year olds prevailed with an agreed upon tie (ok, I was kidding about the parents shouting part). The coach did a great job of getting all of the kids into nearly every position. Will likes goalie and defense best at this point of the “season”. It is a great deal watching them at this age as all of the kids run and kick with broad smiles on their faces.
