October 2008 – Appalachian Trail Hike Trip

Dad and I headed out for 7 days and 7 nights on that Appalachian Trail where we hiked from the middle of the Shenandoah National Park to Harper’s Ferry, WV.  We say many deer, huge forests/trees, 3 bear, and countless other small animals.  We also ate Paw Paws (mix between a banana and a kiwi) and some wild grapes that were growing on an old plantation/homesite.  It was great hiking again with Dad, we met and hiked a good bit with Bruce from Tuscaloosa and we enjoyed near perfect weather for the entire trip.  The days started easy and progressively got tougher in both terrain and miles as we pressed to get to our destination.

Will Turns 6!!!!

A balloon per year...

A balloon per year...

6 FAST years!  Unreal.  The little boy is a little man.  He held tight this year with 3 parties and 3 cakes not counting the cupcakes that went with him to school.  Cindy’s volcano cake was a big hit with the 6, 30 and 60 year old segments.  Gender didn’t seem to have a particular leaning although the Republican and undecideds in the crowd didn’t care for the metaphor.  There might be too much election coverage seeping into the Sutton household.  Will has taken to yelling: “Oooh  yeah!!  They are rooting for Obama” as he rides past yard signs…counseling may be required.
